You can buy ordinary number plates from a nummerpladeoperatør (number plate provider) (in Danish only - but if you enter your postal code, the ones nearest to you will be shown on the screen) at one of our vehicle registration offices.

You can buy temporary stickers at the motor registry offices or from certain customs offices.

  • The most recent vehicle registration certificate
  • Photo ID such as driving licence or passport
  • Information on an insurance company which is online in the Register of motor vehicles (this does not apply to trailers) or an insurance certificate
  • Power of attorney if you represent a third party

If you need number plates for vehicles to which a reduced tax applies, taxis, busses or vehicles for disabled people, for example, you need to submit various information to the Danish Motor Vehicle Agency (Motorstyrelsen) in advance.
