If your number plates have been stolen, damaged or confiscated by the police, but not deregistered, you need to deregister the plates by declaring them lost in the Register of Motor Vehicles.
If both of your number plates for a car, a registered tractor or a power tool are damaged, you can either order a replacement of number plates or deregister the vehicle.
There are two to ways to replace your number plate:
- Replacement of number plates: You order replacement number plates if your number plates have been stolen or lost. You decide if you want to collect the number plates from one of our vehicle registration offices, or if you want us to send them to you at a DKK 38 delivery charge.
- Change of number plates: You order a change of number plates if your number plates have been damaged. You need to collect the new number plates in one of our vehicle registration offices as the damaged number plates must be returned to the Danish Motor Vehicle Agency (Motorstyrelsen) before we hand over the new number plates.
Both replacement plates and change plates cost DKK 1.180. Time of delivery is approximately 4 weeks.
