Increase in transport deduction for 2026
Update your preliminary income assessment – and see what you get this year
The Danish Parliament has passed an increase of the transport deduction rates for all of 2026 retroactively. From 9 July, you can update your deduction for transport between home and work in your preliminary income assessment to include the increased deduction in your tax and salary in 2026.
You're entitled to a deduction for transport between home and work if you commute more than 12 km to work (so a total of more than 24 km to and from work) a day. This also applies to all kinds of paid work subject to labour market contribution, including student jobs, paid work experiende and wage subsidy jobs.
You'll get a deduction for the number of days you actually commute. So, you can't claim transport deduction for the days you work from home, are on holidays or out sick. Please note that all means of transport entitle you to a deduction.
