Guide to E-tax

MitID is the Danish digital ID. It's a common secure login that you use to access all Danish public websites, your online banking an other private websites.

You access E-tax for individuals with MitID if you are 15 years of age or older.

If you are authorised to see and enter information in E-tax on behalf of another person, you can log on by means of authorisation using your private MitID.

1. Go to E-tax (TastSelv)
2. Select Authorised logon
3. Log on using your own MitID
4. Enter CPR no. of the relevant person and select Log on
5. Next, you will see the E-tax menu of that person

If you don't have MitID, you can order an E-tax password to log on to E-tax for individuals (TastSelv Borger). You can only use an E-tax password if you are not regeistered for Digital Post.

If you want to deregister from Digital Post, you have to contact your local Citizen Service (Borgerservice). If you have never lived in Denmark, you have to contact the Danish Agency for Digital Government (Digitaliseringsstyrelsen).

Order an E-tax password

If you have entered your mobile number or your email address in E-tax under Your profile and contact details - Contact details, you receive the password immediately via text message or email. Otherwise, we will send you the password in a letter by regular post within 8-14.

Please note that you have to register your non-Danish address with the Danish national register (Folkeregister) if you live outside Denmark and you want to receive your password by regular post.

Please note: You can no longer log on to E-tax for individuals with an E-tax password if you have MitID. You have to use your MitID to log on to E-tax.

If you have registered for Digital Post and you enter your phone number or email address in E-tax under Your profile and contact information - Contact details, you will get a text or an email notification when your tax assessment notice or preliminary income assessment is ready. 

Watch out for fake emails or text messages

Fake and harmful emails and text messages may look a lot like those sent by the 7 agencies of the Danish Customs and Tax Administration. We recommend that you only click on links in emails and text messages if you are certain that the sender is legitimate.
